Guitar Quest

Welcome

It is said that it takes about 10 years to master any field working 8-10 hours a day and that there are about 10,000 pieces of knowledge that you'll need. It is also said that "no one will ever tell you what you need to know." This is likely because everyone's needs are so different that what one person thinks is important might isn't for another. Nonetheless, here is my attempt at sharing what I know as well as a repository for reference material and ideas. Often, if I need to explain something, this site makes it easier because I can write it out and publish it via a link.

I am not a great guitarist; however, I am competent and really enjoy what I play and create. I believe that a single good idea can transcend even a basic player into a force. It is with that faith that I continue my journey. It's been said that everyone has at least one good song in them. A song can be instrumental, vocal, or percussive.

I also attempted to make this a teaching site but my video production skills need both more budget and more work. Nonetheless, you may find something interesting if you overlook the flaws. Guys like Andy Aledort are setting the bar in this and I believe it can work if done well.

If you really want to jump your playing and knowledge, head to the thegearpage.net. There's some monster players there and you'll pick up an incredible amount knowledge. Also, there's been a breakthrough in modelers. Head over to the Axe-FX forum and check out what is now possible with direct recording.

My Custom Built Strat

My Signature Stratocaster

Built with an unfinished solid palisander rosewood neck, this guitar fulfills my need for a chimey stratocaster with the traditional sounds. Since I play with the side of my pick and I naturally move to a mellow sound, the neck compliments both a bell-like tone as well as having some smoothness. I used Custom Shop 54's in it and when in the bridge position, they are almost as bright as a Tele without the harshness of some. I float the Callaham vibrato so I get about a semi-tone up as well as an octave down.
